Student of the Month!

We were so excited to hear that Anna Claire was chosen as a student of the month at
Richland Elementary School!

This is the note her teacher wrote to nominate Anna Claire:
Anna Claire Edhegard deserves to be the Champion Student of the Month because she always does her best each and every day in my classroom.  She is attentive, compassionate, and well mannered.  Anna Claire listens the first time the teacher gives directions and always follows through with the directions.  Although she is quiet, she has a lot of knowledge to share.  She is a friend to everyone in  class.  She is a very smart girls and I am very lucky to have her in my class.
-Mrs. Reeves

When we got home from school, the vice principal called to inform me of Anna Claire's award!  He said this was a great achievement, and to be sure and check out here picture on the school website!

Busy, Busy!

Wow, we have been so busy getting adjusting to life in Auburn!  We are enjoying it, but ready for things to settle down a little!  (Although, I don't think this is going to happen any time soon.)

Anna Claire is "Saddling Up for Success" in First Grade.  There is a western theme at Richland, so they have been making cowgirls and enjoying all the horse decorations.  She loves her teacher, Mrs Reeves, and has met several friends.  She is always talking about someone new that she has played with.  The first week of school, there was no homework, but these last two weeks have been full!  She had her first spelling test last week, and made 100!  She has had a couple reading grades and math grades, and made perfect scores on those as well!  She is journaling everyday.  (I have really enjoyed reading those.) She has graduated from Kindergarten readers to Chapter books.   Her first real book, Junie B Jones, came home last week to both of our surprise!  She is reading everything, and beginning to pick out books to read to Gracie at bedtime.  She is also enjoying music, art, and P.E. at school.  I am so proud of her.  She has adjusted perfectly and really is doing great in school!

Our first project, "All About Me" was done the second week of school.  In the craziness, I didn't get a picture, but it included:
     A picture of my family.
     My favorite snack:  Cheez-its
Something to  represent my favorite hobby:  Dance Medal
Something that is my favorite color: blue hair ribbon
     My special thing: a Lovey
Anna Claire collected all these things and presented them in the front of her class!

Last week's project was on patterns:

Gracie is finally adjusting to her new class.  She loves her new teacher, Mrs. Abby, and is getting to know her classmates, too.  Mrs. Abby says she is so sweet and calm, not sure if she knows which one is Gracie.  She says her best friend is Anna and her favorite activity is the art center.  They are focusing on family and circles this week!

Other than school, we have started ballet and tap on Monday afternoons, and will being gymnastics on Monday evenings next week.  Both girls are having fun!
